HELPING FAMILIES IN CRISIS
When the first Board of Directors met in 1974, they didn't realize that they were laying the foundation for a unique rural charitable organization. What began as a single program for ”friendly visitation” has grown to include the provision of emergency housing and utilities, clothing, household goods, services for victims of crime, shelter from domestic violence, transitional housing, professional counseling and response to a variety of other emergency needs.
Christian Associates seeks to carry out its mission through
the operation of three programs:
(1) the Harbor House program for the victims
of violent crime including domestic violence;
(2) the Family Advocacy program
for low-income families threatened by homelessness, medical catastrophe or
other crisis;
(3) a Thrift Shop that provides low-cost clothing shoes
and household goods to the community – as well as opportunities for
volunteer service and a “place to give.”
Christian Associates also coordinates an annual “Share the Joy of Christmas” program, operates a food pantry and actively participates in the promotion of other community service programs. Most recently, Christian Associates provided staff support for a community group as they established a dental clinic for low-income children.
The programs and services provided by Christian Associates are made possible through cash and in-kind donations from individuals, businesses, churches, schools and civic groups; annual fund raisers and benefits; bequests; grants from public and private sources; and are supported by many partnering agencies and a host of wonderful, dedicated volunteers.
Christian Associates has been awarded 501(c)3 status by the Internal Revenue Service.

We are “Good Samaritans” in the Table Rock Lake area, standing
in the gap for our brothers and sisters… building bridges for them
on their journey towards self-sufficiency. We do this in the name of
Jesus Christ.
